The LTV A-7 Corsair II was a subsonic carrier attack jet developed from the F-8 Crusader, trading speed for load, range and — importantly — one of the first accurate nav/attack systems and head-up displays.
Affectionately called the SLUF ("Short Little Ugly Fellow"), it delivered ordnance with a precision unusual for its day and served the Navy and Air Force for decades.
