Stealth air-superiority fighter ·First flight 1997 · In service 2005
The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is the world's first operational fifth-generation fighter, built around a trinity of stealth, supercruise and thrust-vectoring agility that no adversary has fully matched.
Its combination of low observability and sensor fusion lets it see and shoot first, while F119 engines push it past Mach 1.8 without lighting the afterburners. Only 195 were built, making every Raptor a rare and closely guarded asset.
