Widebody airliner ·First flight 2009 · In service 2011
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was the first airliner built largely from carbon-fibre composites, a lightweight structure that delivers roughly twenty percent better fuel efficiency than the jets it replaced.
Its composite fuselage also allows a higher cabin pressure, more humidity and bigger windows — a more comfortable flight — while its range opened up long, thin city-to-city routes that never justified a jumbo.
